Symposia

Another aspect of CNCF’s Arts and Culture Education programme is the hosting of symposia. The Foundation has hosted two symposia so far. One was the International Conference on Caribbean Culture and Performance and the other was the Travelling Caribbean Film Showcase Conference.

The International Conference on Caribbean Culture and Performance honoured the 50th anniversary of “Moon On A Rainbow Shawl”, a widely performed drama written by Trinidadian Errol John. Cayman National Cultural Foundation hosted the conference in collaboration with the University College of the Cayman Islands, Centre for Creative & Festival Arts – University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, University of South Florida College of Visual and Performing Arts and the Institute for the Study of Latin America and the Caribbean and the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts School of Drama. The three-day conference was the first of its kind held in Cayman.

  • “The Yards Next Door: Imagination and Creativity” by Ken Corsbie

Playwright and UWI Senior Lecturer Rawle Gibbons presented the keynote address titled, “Yard As Cultural Nexus”.
